The city of Las Vegas may be best known as a gambling destination,
but the 2010 NAB Convention proved that IP-Audio is a sure bet. New
radio broadcasting products with Livewire IP-Audio connectivity from
Axia Audio, Telos Systems, Omnia Audio and Axia partner Nautel Ltd.
brought home 11 awards from the technical panels of three broadcast
magazines: The Radio World Cool Stuff award, Radio Pick
Hit award, and RadioINK TechINK Innovation award, given to the
best new products shown at NAB, were all bestowed on radio products with
Axia Livewire AoIP.
Livewire-connected products earning awards at this year’s NAB
included:
- Axia’s iQ™ IP radio console (AxiaAudio.com/iq/),
an easy-to-deploy standalone console with networking that’s
expandable to as many as 24 faders and features starting pricing of
just $7,995 US MSRP. iQ earned Cool Stuff and TechINK awards.
- Telos Systems’ VX multi-studio VoIP broadcast telephone system (Telos-Systems.com/vx/),
which uses standard SIP and RTP protocols to integrate with
VoIP-based PBX or SIP-trunking services to direct up to 80 phone
lines. VX won honors from Radio World, Radio and TechINK.
- Omnia.11 (OmniaAudio.com/11/),
the latest breakthrough in broadcast audio processing from Omnia
Audio, with touchscreen controls and advanced new low-IMD multiband
limiting and final clipping technology. Radio, TechINK and Radio
World all bestowed awards on Omnia.11.
- Nautel’s new VS transmitters (nautel.com/vs_series),
the first transmitters to include Livewire IP-Audio native input,
also won TechINK, Pick Hit and Cool Stuff awards.
30 Axia partners now offer products that integrate directly with Axia
IP-Audio networks. The Axia system allows broadcasters to build audio
networks of any size using standard Ethernet to connect a few rooms, or
an entire facility. Livewire networks have a total system capacity of
more than 10,000 audio streams, and can carry hundreds of digital stereo
(or nearly a hundred surround) channels over a single CAT-6 cable,
eliminating much of the cost normally associated with wiring labor and
infrastructure. A full list of Axia Partners can be found by visiting
AxiaAudio.com/partners/ .
Axia’s Livewire is the worldwide standard for Audio over Ethernet,
with more than 1,500 systems installed around the world. Axia products
include the new iQ and popular Element 2.0 broadcast consoles, an
IP-Audio Driver that allows PCs to exchange audio directly with Livewire
networks via NIC, the PowerStation integrated console engine, the
IP-Intercom system, a family of “audio nodes” that allow easy mixing and
matching of digital, analog and microphone audio, and a comprehensive
suite of network administration and routing control software. For more
