Omnia Stations Top List For 3rd Straight Year
31 March 2003, Cleveland Ohio, USA
The annual list of the highest-billing radio stations in America is out, and once again stations using Omnia audio processing top the list.
According to data released by Broadcast Industry Associates (www.bia.com), the top two radio stations in the US (ranked by 2002 gross revenue) are Clear Channel’s WLTW-FM/New York and KIIS-FM/Los Angeles, each with more than $60 million billed for 2002. Together, they account for more than $125 million in yearly revenue — and both use Omnia audio processing to maintain dominance in the world’s most competitive radio markets.
“More market leaders are processing with Omnia than ever before,” says Denny Sanders, Managing Director of Telos / Omnia. “We’ve been following this trend, and this is the third consecutive year that America's top billing stations are Omnia clients. In terms of ratings, Omnia processing is heard on more of the US’ Top 100 FM stations than all other brands combined.”
Omnia audio processors are preferred by leading radio stations around the world. Recent surveys find Omnia in use on more than half of the 100 highest-rated FM stations in the US – more than all other brands combined. Internationally, Omnia processors are relied upon by Virgin Radio, NRJ, The BBC, Deutsche Telekom, YLE, RTL, Skyrock and many other leading broadcasters.
Omnia’s newest product, Omnia-6hdfm, is a dual-output, combination IBOC + conventional FM audio processor which permits simultaneous processing of audio for both digital and analog audio chains, ensuring seamless transitions between the digital and analog channels. A unique split processing structure routes audio from the mixer section to separate, concurrent output stages for conventional FM and DAB. The IBOC section features user-selectable frequency response, up to 20 kHz. A specially designed LookAhead final limiter conditions audio for the bit-reduced encoders employed in IBOC systems, while the Conventional FM signal receives distortion-controlled final limiting with pre-emphasis and 15kHz filtering.
Omnia-6hdfm is featured along with other Omnia products at this year’s NAB Convention, April 5-10, in Las Vegas. Visit Omnia in Booth N2618, and visit www.omniaaudio.com for more information.
